Hey, Brenda,
About 5 years ago I started using MINIX 1.5 for the PC on my XT and it
does have the ability to run on an AT. The author is Andy Tanennbaum and
the software is put out by Prentice-Hall. This version is a crude one.
However, it does work once you "finally" get the installation correctly
done and besides, it is a great learning experience. I did e-mail the
author some 2 years ago and he informed me that an improved version will
be coming out in a couple of years -- the one I have will only boot from
floppy disks -- the new version will use the hard disk. Also, since I
don't follow MINIX as much as I use to or should since it was my intro
into the unix world and I still read the manual sometimes, you should
look at the newsgroup "comp.os.minix" or something to that effect.
Anyway, I hope that I have helped you in some way.
Mike.
