emacs 19.xx and ispell

Post by Alex Fre » Wed, 12 Jan 1994 05:22:33

Did anyone run ispell from emacs 19.xx? I have both from the Slackware 1.1.0
and ispell works fine standalone, but wouldn't start from emacs. Any ideas?
Thanks.

My mail bounced, so I will post it here.

Yes.  Emacs ispell.elc expect ispell version 4.0 and the ispell that comes
with Slackware is version 3.0.x.

The trouble is that ispell v3.0 has a better user interface (I think)
than ispell v4.0.  With the documents that come with ispell v4.0, they
say also that you presumably will use ispell in combination with emacs.

If you are interested in ispell v4.0, you can find it at prep.ai.mit.edu
(the GNU source site) in directory /pub/gnu/.

Success!

1. 2.5.1 emacs-19.30, emacs-19.31

Has anyone built emacs-19.30 or emacs-19.31 on Solaris 2.5.1 using gcc-2.5.6
or gcc-2.7.2?

I configured emacs with the following options:

configure --with-gcc --with-x=no

When I try to install either version of emacs I get the following error:

cd lib-src; make maybe-blessmail  \
  MAKE='make' archlibdir='/usr/local/libexec/emacs/19.30/sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1'
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/tmp/emacs/lib-src'
