type? level? what are you talking about???
There are fax *groups*, which describe what is happening on the phone
line. Usually you'll see "group 3", on ISDN also "group 4".
Then, there are fax *class*es, which describe the language the computer
talks to the modem. There are class 1 (host does all the work, modem is
dumb), class 2 (pre-cut of the class 2.0 standard) and class 2.0 (the TIA/
EIA standard; modem has to be fairly smart, computer doesn't have to meet
as harsh timing restrictions as in class 1).
Efax can do class 1 and 2, the USR is class 2.0, which is incompatible.
Check mgetty+sendfax or FlexFax for 2.0 support.
