Are you compiling with gcc 2.4.5 ? This doesn't (well, it didn't in 1.1.3x
kernels, and I didn't spot anything in the patches to make me think this
has changed) compile the ksyms stuff very well.
You can check by 'cat /proc/ksyms'. If this is empty then you have this
problem. gcc 2.5.8 fixes it.

I've done everything, but can't seem to get the ppp module to load, and
therefore get the PPP messages during boot.
When I installed RedHat, it came with the modules precomplied. Still no
PP message. I did make modules and make modules_install; I saw the ppp.o
file; still no PPP message.
How do I load the PPP module? If I type ppp at the shell, I get a
message that the kernel doesn't support ppp or the module isn't loaded.
This is driving me nuts!
