SCSI detection problem during install

Post by David Lesh » Fri, 03 Dec 1993 09:01:52

{I got a phone call from a Linux -wannabe having troubles. As he
does not have news working, I offered to help him by posting
this. I've set him for the Reply-To: address.

I gather he gets through the install, but can't boot...

I have exactly the same problem with the 1542C.  Using the SCSI-Select
utility to disable the BIOS fixes the problem, BUT you can no longer
boot from the SCSI disk.  I'm still booting linux from floppy; I would
be thrilled if somebody found a fix.

1. lockup after network card detection during install of redhat 6.0

Hi,

I'm trying to install Red Hat 6.0 on an IBM PC 365 and I was having
trouble autodetecting the network card earlier (an IBM token ring).  I
did some investigating and found the exact type of card (which is
supported by linux), io address, and irq settings and supplied them as
options.  The card then detected and I got to the TCP/IP config screen.
After about 3 seconds everything locked up and I could no longer type
anything.  Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong or how I might
fix this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
