or if you're using something really primative like a MS operating system, try
going to "my computer" and right clicking the drive and looking through the
properties tab.
1. Need to partition remaining free disk space after installed Linux
Bought a 60Gb hard drive and used 12Gb to install RedHat7.3. Now that
everything is installed and went in my Linux the first time. I want
to use the remaining free disk space by adding new partitions and
formating them afterwards. I checked Osborne Linux 5th Edition book.
It talked about use fdisk and mkfs. However, no example was given and
I could not figure out the exact syntax.
Could someone shed a light on this subject and offer an exact syntax
for this task?
Existing partitions on this drive:
Device Start End
FAT(Win98) 5Gb /dev/hdf1 1 638
/boot 100Mb /dev/hdf2 639 651
/usr 6Gb /dev/hdf3 652 1416
Win Ext'd (LBA) /dev/hdf4 1417 7476
/var 2Gb /dev/hdf5 1417 1671
/home 2Gb /dev/hdf6 1672 1926
/ 2Gb /dev/hdf7 1927 2181
swap 400Mb /dev/hdf8 2182 2232
I need to add /dev/hdf9 for 20Gb as /data.
Thank you very much in advance!
