I have just installed the motif in my linux. However, I cannot start the motif
environment by mwm. It prompts me that.... Can't open display.
Should I get some files like .Xdefaults and .x-mwm as in the SunOS??

While I am no authority on the subject, I found that you have to start the
X server first (xinit, startx etc), you will probably have this set up to
start another window manager (like fvwm). I had to edit the .xinitrc
file. Either put the name of the window manager you want in the file, or
leave it empty and type 'mwm' when X has initilised.
Hope this helps.
I have a new install of Solaris 8 on and Ultra 5 that I will be using
as a management client for a remote Firewall 1 management module.
When I start the Motif policy editor I get a series of errors:
Wind/U Warning: Individual setting of locale environment variables
unsupported (LC_CTYPE) (LC_NUMERIC) (LC_TIME); set LANG instead.
Unknown locale specified locale: en_US.IS08859-15 LANGUAGE:
The policy editor starts up and functions ok. When I start the log
viewer it starts up but immediately crashes. Not sure if that is
related to the language environment error.
How can I fix this?
