Can anyone help me with a config for X?
The video is STB Powergraph VL24. Machine 486 VESA Local Bus,
SCSI-II disk and CD, serial mouse. If you've made this combo
work, please mail me a config.

The real hardware limitation for Xconfig's is the monitor.

Unless you specify what kind of monitor you have, any advice
someone gives you could potentially cause your monitor to
be damaged.  You need to find out the minimum and maximum
horizontal and vertical sync frequecies, as well as the
maximum allowable bandwidth.  

Read the /usr/X386/lib/X11/etc/Videomodes.doc
You can find lot's of sample modedb files in:
/usr/X386/lib/X11/etc/modedb.txt as well

Try the VESA timings first.
