Has anyone gotten the Cirrus ALG5434 PCI card to work with
Linux? It is one of the cards that comes with the Quantex P90
system. I am using some of the older cirrus drivers and can get
Openwindows to load and work alright, but when I exit openwindows, the
screen is total garbage and I have to reboot. There are strange symbols
in place of the normal text. If you could point me in the right direction
of where to find updated drivers I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks.
I haven't been able to get my 5434-based VLB card to work, either.
Until I figure out what the problem is I'm making do by telling the
SVGA rerver that it's a 5424. I've tried XFree86-3.1 with no better
results than with 3.0, but I'm going to give it a nother try to be
sure that I didn't make a mistake installing it.
You can usually recover from that trashed console syndrome by running
setfont (just type it blindly on the hosed console.) I invoke xinit
from a shell script that has the lines:
setfont -o .savefont
xinit
setfont .savefont
