UNIX ADMIN BOOT

Post by Edmund Knowl » Thu, 21 Apr 1994 04:49:33

Hi all,
I am interested in finding an involved unix admin guide/book.
One that goes into stuff like setting the unix box
to be dialed into, cron stuff, uucp, adding share memory etc.
The few books I see on the market are very basic.
If anyone has a suggestion please email at

        Thanks in advance.

        PS I am running LINUX.

Usually I use a set of Goretex Herman Survivors.  I find that * just
drips right off them and my feet never get we at all.  I find that this
only becomes a factor when I open up on the users with my shotgun (an
invaluable tool for dealing with user complaints).

More commonly the pipes in the bathroom rupture or the toilets overflow.
The gortex survivors let me walk to the resulting swamp with impunity.  My
feet stay nice and dry.  This wasn't the case when I had nylon hiking
boots. The scotchgaurd just didn't seem to help them.  They look clunky
though.

I find a pair of narrow tipped, black leather calf-height military boots
really works for effect.  When you want to make an ominous impression,
these wor... Oh. You meant books, didn't you?  Oh oops sorry.

Try the Oreill'y books.  I have a shelf full.

running processes and it's related dlls, memory, parent etc.

Under *gasp* OS/2 this was called pstat.

Thanks,

Phil
