1. No 'mdir' after ftape afio operations ??

InfoMagic 12/94 + 1.2.5 + gcc-2.5.8 + ftape-2.0c
PCI/VLB/ISA m/b ide+scsi 16Mb

Any idea why a) mdir doesn't work after a afio operation ?
             b) I can't kill -9 the mdir process

Any ideas on how to fix it ?

TIA
