Static IP with AT&T Brodband (MediaOne RoadRunner)

Static IP with AT&T Brodband (MediaOne RoadRunner)

Hello,
I currently have AT&T Brodband (MediaOne RoadRunner) as my ISP. I am
really wanting a static IP so I can set up Apache, SSH, etc and still
ahve the same IP (or possibly a .com is I set up DNS), but after
repeated calls to AT&T Tech Support, I found out that "[they] don't do
static IP's". I am on a home network with a LinkSys router, but DMZ is
on to my local IP so I can run Apache etc and the outside world would be
able to see it. So, is there any possibly way to get that static IP
(even if it means buying an IP, or getting IP forwarding)?

Thanks

Andrew Conner

Try one of the DDNS (Dynamic DNS) services out there, that'll get you going.

Static IP with AT&T Brodband (MediaOne RoadRunner)

even though they give you a dynamic ip, it doesn't change that much. i
usually keep my ip's for half a year to three quarters of a year at a time.
then again, i never shut the server off, but you have a router, so it
shouldn't be a problem.

1. Static IP with AT&T Broadband (MediaOne RoadRunner)

Hello,
I currently have AT&T Broadband (MediaOne RoadRunner) for my ISP. After
repeated tech support sessions, they have told me that I can't have a
static IP. I am on a home network with a LinkSys router (but with DMZ
turned on to my local IP, so that I can run Apache, SSH, etc). I really
want a static IP so that it would be possible for me to keep the same IP so
that running Apache, SSH, and possibly DNS (maybe) would be easier (so that
if I got a .com or something, it would work). Is there any way to get a
static IP (even if I have to buy an IP or do something funky)?
I am on a Red Hat 7.1 box.

Thanks...
Best Regards,
Andrew Conner
