Adaptec EISA AIC-7770 - anyone using?

Post by Lindsay Smi » Wed, 08 Feb 1995 15:13:36

Is anyone using the adaptec AIC-7770. I am trying to install Linux on
a pentium with this scsi card - so far with not a lot of success.

I am using slackware 2.1.0, the boot disk operates up till the disk is
detected reporting:

aha274x warning: ignoring channel B of 274x-twin
AHA274X AT EISA SLOT 9:
        irq 11
        bus release time 60bcls
        data fifo threshold 100%
        SCSI CHANNEL A:
        scsi id 7
        scsi bus parity check enabled
        scsi selection timeout 256ms
scsi bus reset at power-on enabled
        scsi bus termination disabled
scsi0: Adaptec AHA274x/284x (EISA/VL-bus -> Fast SCSI) 1.26/1.11/1/28
scsi: 1 hosts

and then the installation process hangs!!

Can anyone suggest a point of attack.

Lindsay.

I have exactly the same problem with a 486 EISA Board. I tried other
Linux Distribution (the german LST 1.8 and Slackware 2.0.0) with the result,
that the SCSI host adapter was completely ignored by the bootdisk (SCSI
hosts: 0).

So if anyone has an idea please help!
