PCI/SCSI NCR controller problem

PCI/SCSI NCR controller problem

Post by John Wagn » Wed, 11 May 1994 00:15:50

Ok I have a Pentium 66 PCI with the NCR chip controller in it, and when I
tried to install Linux it said ZERO HD's and NO CD!! Yes it also said I didn't
have any tapes either, but that was true. I have a NEC 3xi and 2 internal HD's
so I would think that the install disk would have seen them, but NO! I've
seen/heard that I might need a few things in order to get Linux up on this
type of setup, is this true? and if so, what do I need and where can I get it?
I have the April infomagic CD-ROM set and am ready to install slackware, I've
made the disks and started, but until I can get Linux to see the HD's I don't
think that I'll have much luck. ( I could be wrong :))

Thanks in advance for any/all help

John

The bad news is that there is no support for it yet. The good news is
that Drew Eckhardt is working on a driver and you should see an Alpha
release in the near future. Check in c.o.l.d for messages related to
this topic.
