NEC Intersect 2x cd-rom and workman

NEC Intersect 2x cd-rom and workman

Post by Kenneth P. Persi » Fri, 04 Feb 1994 10:56:06

To all who know the answer,
     I have a NEC Intersect cd-rom being driven by a Trantor t128.
It works great for all data stuff, but when I try to run workman, it
freezes the cd-player. It says there's no cd in the drive, while at
the same time the displays eject button is perpetually pressed down.
If I try to eject it manually by using the hardware eject button, nothing
happens unless i get out of workman.
I hope I'm not the only one with this problem,

1. T128 SCSI with NEC Intersect CD-ROM

I have been having problems getting Linux to work with this NEC CD
Reader. I configured the kernel with SCSI and SCSI CD-ROM supports and I
used "t128.o" as a loadable module. Once I inserted the module, the SCSI
card and the attached CD-ROM were detected successfully. The syslog
said:

Jan 24 16:34:30 kingfisher kernel: scsi0 : at 0x000c8000 irq 7 options
CAN_QUEUE=32  CMD_PER_LUN=2 release=3 generic options AUTOPROBE_IRQ
AUTOSENSE PSEUDO DMA generic release=7

Jan 24 16:34:30 kingfisher kernel: Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0,

But when I tried to mount the CD-ROM according to

        mount -t iso9660 /dev/scd0 /cdrom -o ro

the command didn't return. I could not kill the mount process, nor could
I shutdown the system and reboot. Am I missing the NEC CD-ROM driver? Or
did I do something terribly wrong? Thanks!

By the way, the CD-ROM was installed smoothly in DOS :-)
