Backup - Restore ->Kernel Paging request faild

Post by Harald Lesz » Fri, 03 Dec 1993 02:12:33

Hello !
I need help.
One upon a time I made a Backup:
find ./ -xdev |cpio -oO/dev/nrmt0
as root for all partitions.

Now I need the backup. Creating partitions, same names, same contens
nearly same sizes, made file systems and got the backup in with
cpio -idvumI/dev/nrmt0
after this I ran lilo.

My kernel didn't boot, it dies with
----------------------------------------------------------------
Unable to handle kernal paging request at address C0000000

Ops: 0000
EIP: 0010:0010CF6C
EFLAGS: 00010287

task[0] (swapper) killed: unable to recover
Kernal panic: Trying to free up swapper memory space
In swapper task - not syncing
---------------------------------------------------------------
at boot time (after printer reset, Controler init).

The old kernel (SLS) works, but produces searious segmentation faults,
or errors like this above killing the process.
Its impossible to build up an new kernel, bacause as86 can't work.

Anybody an idea ???

Thank you for everything.
Harald

P.S. The backup is errorfree, memory (8MB Simm) tested.
