Help with mounting Mitsumi FX001DE CDROM [D [D [D [D [DIDE CDROM.

I have been trying for last four days to use my IDE internal CDROM with Atapi
interface. I have 1.1.72 kernel, ide-3.2patch.72+ patch.

During config I do not answer yes to any CDROMs. Just reply yes to using IDE
driver. The kernel compiles OK. It even recognizes the CDROM. But I am not able to mount it. Following is a partial output during boot.

I will appreciate any help.

Note that there is

"irq.c:bad bottom half entry 00000040" eroor up front.

The CDROM is found OK

"hdc: FX001DE, ATAPI, CDROM drive
ide1: secondary interface on IRQ15 "

But I cannot get it to mount.

My question is, should I use any CDROM driver. There is a ide-cd.c driver in
the ide-3.2patch, but it was not being used?

Thanks in advance for any help. After trying for 64 hours in 4 days, I am
without any new ideas to try.

Sincerely,

Bharat S. Jhaveri

Help with mounting Mitsumi FX001DE CDROM [D [D [D [D [DIDE CDROM.

Looks like the kernel patch was installed & configured correctly,
and the drive is properly detected and working.  It also appears
that the /dev/hdc device was probably created properly.

Therefore, the problem is one of:

        1. bad parameters for "mount"
        2. bug in the driver

Looking below, I see that the isofs_read_super error is for dev 0x1601,
which translates to /dev/hdc1.. which is not a valid way of accessing
the cdrom.  Look in README.ide (part of the patch) for an example of the
correct parameters for "mount".  If you try all of that and it still
doesn't work, then email Scott Snyder (address is in README.ide) for help.

1. Mitsumi FX001DE CDROM problems

I have problems with mounting my Mitsumi FX001DE cdrom on
my Linux 2.0.29 machine. It is connected as a slave on
the primary IDE bus, but I get the same error when it is
connected as master on the secondary IDE bus.

cdplay can play audio CD:s from with no fuzz, and even
'dd if=/dev/hdb of=cd.img' seems to work. The cd.img
file contains information information about the CD contents,
but I can't tell if it is valid iso9660 data though.

I have a SCSI cdrom on the same machine that works perfectly,
so the kernel knows about iso9660.

Still I get:

"Bad logical zone size 0
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdb,
or too many mounted file systems"

when I run:
'mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdb /mnt -o ro'
the same error when mounting /dev/hdb1 instead.

Any clues?

/Henrik
