Hello netters,

I am currently stuck trying to compile quota-1.32. I trace it to
be the cause of this rpcgen error. It cannot generate the rquota.h from
rquota.x. It keeps complaining 'execl: No such file or directory'.

Please help! If you too can't figure it out what is the problem then
please send me the rquota.h if you are able to generate it.

The error isn't very helpfull isn't it. I found out last time that it is
a problem with the execution of cpp. Make sure you have a symlink from /usr/lib
to cpp that is located in the gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.5.? directory. And make sure
if the symlink exists it points to a valid cpp. Last time I had problems it was
still pointing to the cpp of an old compiler version.

If you still have problems mail me and I will send you the files that rpcgen
needs to generate.

I figure that some of you might like to know the answer. I have
arrived to a solution with the help from Mr Neal Stephenson.

Here is the answer to the problem:

Do a link of the cpp file from the /usr..../gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.5.8/cpp to /lib/cpp.

Thats all.

I solved this one while compiling the NFS server v2 on the weekend (by
tracing the rpcgen process). rpcgen is looking for /lib/cpp and you
don't have it. Please link it to your GCC cpp. Mine is:

/lib/cpp -> ../usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.4.5/cpp
