reboot help- $20 for quick answer

The kernel image isn't right; probably a new kernel has been compiled,
and someone forgot to run lilo.

I always make sure that my lilo config contains a "known good" kernel
entry, which is labelled something like linux.ok. At the lilo prompt
I can then type "linux.ok", and then it loads that specific kernel.

What is this doing in comp.os.linux.x? It has NOTHING to do with X!
Followups directed to comp.os.linix.help.

Posted and mailed.

1. reboot help- $20 for quick answer

Hi,
Help! I'm trying to help a friend reboot a long-stable Linux box; we're
talking over the phone.

Problem: When the machine is rebooted, we only get as far as "lilo loading
linux......" (6 periods), and the screen freezes.

I don't have my admistrator's book with me now; anyone have a good
suggestion? I'll gladly send you a twenty or buy you some shareware, et. if
you can help me out in this crunch. Thanks!
