Help! dynamic address with dip

Post by Leonard Y » Mon, 21 Nov 1994 09:48:23

Hi,

I am using dip to connect to my school's SLIP server.  Each time, I will be
assigned a different IP address.  I just wonder if I could write a script to
handle this login process, rather than doing the login process manually each
time?

Thanks.

In your dip script, after connecting and doing everything necessary to start
slip on the remote end, put these lines:

get $mtu 296
get $remote 120.19.116.1
get $locip remote 10

Change the 296 to the mtu you want and the ip address to the one of your slip
provider.

Be happy...

I have something similar, except it always times out on the
get $locip remote 10line.

Any ideas?

Try changing the 10 to 60 or so...that will give it a full minute before it
times out.

Be happy...
