Philips CDD-521 Support in Slackware 2.0.0?

Post by Ken Filip » Thu, 03 Nov 1994 04:26:25

I read from the CDROM-HOWTO that the Philips CDD-521 CD Writer is
supported in the Yggdrasil distribution.  Can this writer be supported
using the Slackware 2.0.0 distribution?

I have the mkisofs and cdwrite utilities but I can't write to the device
because it thinks it is a CDROM and read-only.  Can I make this device
writable and if so how?

Thanks

1. Philips CDD-521 work with Slackware 2.0.0?

The FAQ says that there is support for this CD Writer in the Yggdrasil
distribution.  Is is possible to make it work with the Slackware 2.0.x
distribution?

I have mkisofs and cdwrite but I can't write to the device because the
system thinks it's just a regular CDROM.  Is it just a matter of making
the appropriate /dev/sr? device writable?  If so what needs to be
modified to do that?

Thanks
