NCR53c810 problems...

Post by Matthew Harre » Sat, 13 Aug 1994 08:28:22

I recently got an NCR53c810 card and compiled in support for
it, but when I try to attach any devices to it under Linux
then I get the following message on bootup

Danger: command in running list, can not abort
Danger: NCR53c7xx - reset is NOP

and then the SCSI bus hangs.  Does anyone have an idea what's
causing this error?

Here's the first part of the bootup sequence

By the way, I found the reply field in the previous message was invalid.
Will anyone who replies to the previous message send it to this address?

1. ASUS SP3G and NCR53c810 problems

Last week I received my new ASUS SP3G board to set up my second Linux system.
The board has a DX4-100 cpu,16MByte RAM and 2 SCSI drives connected to the
internal SCSI bus. The board works fine under DOS and Windows, but I can't get
Linux to boot from its boot/root disks.
After a reset the scsi chip is recognized (NCRPCI 3.06.00) and finds also my
two disk drives. Linux starts booting from floppy and is then also detecting
the ncr53c810 and giving the following messages

       scsi-ncr53c7,8xx: at PCI bus 0, device 1, function 0
scsi-ncr53c7,8xx: warning: revision of 2 is greater than 1.
       scsi-ncr53c7,8xx: NCR53c810 at memory 0xfbfff000, io= 0xe800, irq 9

at this point the system hangs ...

 please help
