I have compiled lx 99 pl 13 c d e and currently am compiling f

When I boot with the disk I create for /dev/sda1

it all works fine until I log in

whenever I log in by typing root or anything followed by return

then it immediately goes back to prompt it looks like it checks passwd

or something but I cant really do anything with it

I can still use 99 pl13 b though

386/40 AMD 386 Cyrix 4M SCSI ST02 w/120M Maxtor
booting from floppy 1.44 to /dev/sda1

is my setup

please respond with and answer or at least a pointer

thanks

The alpha versions c-e had a bug that made them non-functional on i386
chips: they work fine on 486's, but have problems with the bad 386
paging write protect "feature".  This is fixed in 0.99.13f, although I
just found another minor bug in the fork() vmm information handling.
That's why they are marked ALPHA...
