[Netscape/term Flustration!]

[Netscape/term Flustration!]

I have read all of your messages and posts about your success with
Netscape over term.  I have successfully used term for about one year and
Mosaic works well with term..I have tried everything with Netscape and it
will not make a connection.  I have tried netscape-term-proxy and tried
httpd.  I have tried SOCKS host /root/.term/socket=0 and none of this
works for me.  I have upgraded to term 2.2.9 since this has worked for
some of you, no luck.

When I termify netscape and then execute the termnetscape, it can't find
library 'libt.so.4'.  Strange, I can't even find the lib file at sunsite?
I have read that Netscape is a great product.  Maybe someday, even I,
will be about to use it also. Oh well, if some kind soul would like to
offer more advice, I will be very appreciative and will try your suggestions.

Chuck

[Netscape/term Flustration!]

Alright...I'm trying again on NETSCAPE...This product is so much
better than Mosaic that I have to give it another try...

I've been having some truoble with netscape .96 (and .90 and .94
and.......) basically all my TCP apps work fine, over a 56Kb line to
SURANET (my provider) but Netscap edoesn't work...

This is the problem encountered:
When I try to access a local file everything works great,
when I try to access ANY IP Address things are not fine...
In .90 and .94 I was getting a non-helpful error...TCP-ERROR in the
little dialogue box...nothing more, nothing less:(

Now in .96 I get :
"AN UNEXPECTED ERROR OCCURED IN APPLICATION (internal code -32)
nothing more nothing less...very annoying to say the VERY least...this
occurs with any address except for the localhost loopback address
(which BTW didn't work with .90 or .94) I can't enter any real IP
ADDR...but keep in mind that all other apps (TCP) work
fine...telnet/ftp/archie/etc...

I have not changed any of the settings in the proxy section of the
options and have only added my e-mail address and relavent info to the
options section.

Can ANYONE see where I messed up??? anyone have atleast a littel
suggestion???

(P.S. the ftp:// gives another error: An unexpected network transfer
error occured internal code (-111) )

Thanks for the help!

as I have said earlier it IS on sunsite as part of the binary package
of termify:

pub/Linux/apps/comm/term/termify-0.3.linux-bin.tar.gz

so termify netscape, put libt.so in /lib, do a ldconfig and put the name
of the term socket in netscape's socks (in options/preferences/proxies or
somewhere close). Ignore netscape's complaint.

should work..

Hey, I'm running PPP with a 14.4bps link, and I get the same thing once
in a while. I have to shutdown PPP and startup again.

Perhaps if you try it on my 14.4 line, and I **borrow** your 56k for a
*WHILE*, we could test it? :)

So hungry for bandwidth, and those 28.8s are trash :)

1. Cannot run local Netscape under term -- help!

I think that this Netscpae is termified (how can I tell?)
But when I run it on my linux laptop, I cannot connect to
the remote socket.  Is this all I need to do:
set local socket to 1080 in local netscape proxy options
tredir 80 1080:linux.box  on remote machine
If I do this, I get no data available msg.
How do you do this?  Thanks!
