linux support for Nec3xi and PAS16 SCSI?

I have the Jan 94 Linux CDROM from Transameritech, and have not used it
till now since I have the unsupported Adaptec 2742 SCSI adapter.  However,
am planning on buying an IDE 500MB HD, and thinking about hooking my
NEC3xi to the SCSI port on the Pro Audio Studio.  I would then boot off
the IDE, have Linux support with the IDE HD, and be able to access the
CDROM off the PAS SCSI.  Has anyone tried this?

As an aside, is there any problem with using the PAS SCSI port for the
CDROM only, in Windows 3.1, NT3.1, or OS2 2.11 (or beta)?

TIA for any help.
