Hi ,                                                          17.08.94 / 17:59

I have there a little problem with my new Infomagic CD.
I tried to install Slackware 2.0 from this CD to my HDD.There was no problem.
Although there was no error with my CD-ROM drive. It's an Mitsumi FX 001D.
But when i boot up my new system i'll never have a chance to reach the CD-ROM
drive.
My /etc/fstab contains the following line :

/dev/mcd        /cdrom  iso9660         ro,defaults

When i boot linux, there is following error message on the screen (i have
tipped some more lines, maybe it's interresting)

/dev/hda3 is clean, no check
Remounting root device with read-write enabled
ll_RW_block: Trying to read nonexistent block-device 1700 (32)
isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev 0x1700 iso_blknum 16
mount: wrong fs type, /dev/mcd already mounted, /cdrom busy, or other error

I although tried several mount commands. There is no way to reach my cd-rom
:-((
Is there someone who has an idea ?
Iso9660 is compiled in the kernel.

: Iso9660 is compiled in the kernel.

I know these questions may be obvious, but let me ask them anyway:

Did you compile the kernel with Mitsumi CDROM support?
If not, do 'make config', select Mitsumi support and recompile.
Is your Mitsumi in the "standard" configuration (Base 0x300, IRQ 11)?
If not, edit /linux/include/linux/mcd.h and recompile the kernel.
Is there another device in your system "sharing" the address or IRQ?  (You
might not notice this problem in DOS if you use the polling driver.)
If so, change base address or IRQ so that there is no sharing.
Do you have a device /dev/mcd defined?  Or maybe it is /dev/mcd0?
If not, do mknod /dev/mcd b 23 0 or use the right device name in fstab.
Do you have a /cdrom mount point defined?
If not, do mkdir /cdrom and try your mount again.

I hope one of the above questions has provided a clue to your problem.  I've
used my Mitsumi under Linux for about a year now, ever since the driver was
released.  The driver code is stable and I am pleased with its performance.

Did you change your iterupt request (irq) to 11?  If you didn't then get your
Black and Deck power driver, open up your box, move that jumper over one.
If you already did, then I cant help you much.

1. SB Pro 2.0 8 bit stereo / Mitsumi FX001D CD-Rom & Workman Volume ???

Hi,

I'm just unable to change the volume with workman (or any other prog I haven't
found yet ;-) ) ? This does work for a friend having a SB 32ASP and SCSI
CD-Rom (attached to his Adaptec 1542, but I don't think this matters, it's
the SB that should play with the volume settings)...

Any clue ?

Regards, JP.

PS: Is there something like the SB Mixer (for Windoze) for X ?
