OPENWIN dumps core: Cryptic Font Message

OPENWIN dumps core: Cryptic Font Message

Post by Mark Rolli » Fri, 11 Mar 1994 10:49:09

I am trying to get openwin to run so that I can run "xvgr"
which requires the XView toolkit. I have had no success getting
"olwm" or "olvwm" to run. The "fvwm" works fine.

When openwin starts up, I see the fancy logo, and then it dumps
core. The error message is below. Is there a simple fix for this
font error problem ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. sdtfontls /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType segfaults and dumps core

Apparently Xsun xfs support TrueType fonts.  And all TrueType fonts on
this machine are from Solaris8 6/00 installation -- nothing weird.
Sdtfontadm also crashes while attempting to install fonts from TrueType
directory.  I even uninstalled and reinstalled all fonts-related
packages -- it still chokes.  So I'm just wondering if this is typical for anyone else out
there.
