Running X with a P9000 based video card...

I know there have been problems with the Diamond Viper and X386,
but has there been any progress on other P9000 based video cards
like the Sixgraph Wizard 9000LV? I really want to get X up and
running... any suggestions other than another card?

            Thanx ,
            Don

Is there a driver available for the SMC 3016 series of cards?

Not that I know of, but it's your basic I/O mapped 8390, so it
wouldn't be too tough to add.  If you've got a bunch of these cards,
throw one at Donald Becker.  I've gotten him a contact at SMC, so he
*ought* to be able to get programming documentation.

1. X-problem with DFI WG-9000VL VLB video card (P9000)

I am having problems installing Linux w/ Xfree86 on my PC at home.
My hardware consists of a DFI WG-9000VL video card with Weitek Power
9000 GUI processor/chipset w/ 2Meg VRAM, MAG Innovision DJ700 17"
monitor, CMD Technology CSA-6213 VL-to-IDE I/O Controller card, AMD 5x86
CPU w/ 24 MB RAM and 4 GB Hard drive.  Does anyone have experience
installing Linux on a system with a DFI WG-9000VL video card?  (past
symptoms - when I launch startx after installing I get a gray/stripey
screen at first which changes to blue but no mouse pointer comes up.
When I move the mouse the screen goes haywire with different width
screens scolling across the display as I move the mouse.)  Right now
though I am just trying to find the right settings for the XF86config
file for my video card and monitor combination.
