problem with sony 55e cd-rom and trantor t130b scsi adaptor

I am new on Linux. I have Walnut creek august 94 Toolkit for LINUX. My system
config is as following:  486dx2-66 cpu with 12m ram
maxtor 540m ide hd is the master and sony cdu-55e ide cd-rom is the salve on
ide controller card. quantum 730m scsi-2 hd is attached to trantor 130b
adapter, host id is 0, device number is 6.
when I use botdisk generated from modern.gz (should work with ide and scsi
devices), it can not find cd-rom and trantor adapter.
as I just get on board Linux, I can't find posts relating to these problems.
any help, suggestion is greatly appreciated. if possible, send the email
