Some Linux install CDs will allow you to boot from them and enter in
parameters so that you can boot from the OS installed on the hard
drive.  I use my Slackware CD as a rescue disk more often than I
actually use it to install the OS.

I suppose you never made a boot diskette.  Or maybe you did and
forgot?  Use that, if you have it.

Alternatively, if you are not worried about the OS install and are
just worried about your files, you could install a Linux onto another
hard drive, connect that as a slave, and copy the files off.

Another great idea (if you have a CD burner) is to boot up with a
Knoppix CD.  This will give you a live Linux environment, and you can
use the great CD burning software to back up your files.

1. Help to boot new kernel with grub -delited the old kernel before tried the new one

Hi.
Can someone help, how to update Grub so I can boot into linux. I
updated the kernel with up2date software on RedHat and followed the
Instructions to delete the old kernel files from /boot and now I can't
boot into anything old or new kernel. What do I do to boot into linux.
And Grub boot loader doesn't let me run any usefull commands. Thank
you. I tried to update Redhat 7.3 so it would let me boot into linux
but that didn't work. Thank you.
