Midwest Micro Soundbook, C&T graphics chip

I'm thinking about getting a Midwest Micro Soundbook, and
I was wondering if anyone had installed Linux on one.  The
graphics chip is supposedly some type of C&T chip (I want to
use an external monitor with it), and I
haven't seen any information or drivers for that chip.  Any
comments or suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks,

It uses the C & T 65540 chipset.  (At least my dual-scan passive color
486/DX2 -50 model does.)  At present, there are no drivers for it, so you
will have to use the generic 16 color VGA driver, which works well. This
only recognizes 256K of the video memory, so you are restricted to a 800x600
virtual screen.  Some people are working on modifying a 65530 driver for
the 65540 aand 65545 chipsets, so there may be one available in a month or so.

1. Linux on a Midwest Micro Elite Soundbook (DX4 system)?

greetings all,

here i am adding one more voice to the chorus of people thinking of buying a
notebook and looking at midwest micro's systems.  i am not going to be losing
money if i can't get through to tech support with minimal delay, so that is
not so much an issue for me.  however, i would greatly prefer to run Linux for
most of my work (i plan to keep a DOS partition around as well).

the configuration i've been thinking of buying has a DX4 cpu, 8mb RAM, and
either the 340mb or 520mb disk. is anyone running Linux on a midwest elite
DX4/75 or DX4/100 system?

cheers,

bert
