PPP Questions (anyone using it?)

Post by jgla.. » Fri, 25 Feb 1994 07:40:33

I am trying to setup my 1.1.2 slackware box as a PPP router.  I
downloaded the stuff from cps201 but the daemon won't compile for
some reason.  I found ppp related stuff in /usr/var/ppp which must
have been installed when I set the system up but I don't have any
ideas how to use it.  Could any kind person please give me any
pointers?  Which PPP is better?  If it's the first one, how do I get
it to work?

I need routing info and ifconfig info or anything anyone want's to
contribute.  A FAQ might be nice for this

That's an odd directory name, isn't it?

1. VPN using ppp+ssh question (ppp-2.3.5 does not support pty)

I have WinXX boxes at home behind my OpenBSD gateway to DSL.

I am trying to set up a "VPN" type connection from my work computer
(RH Linux) and from my laptop when I am on the road to my home
computer.

I was trying to use "VPN PPP−SSH Mini−HOWTO" by Scott
Bronson but on the OpenBSD side ppp (is version ppp−2.3.5 need
ppp−2.3.11) does not support "pty" option and pppd does not
support "notty" option.

Is there a way to get a newer version of ppp/pppd on OpenBSD 3.3?

Is there a better way to provide a sucure VPN using ssh?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

Bill
