Yes and No. It's limited to 4 _PRIMARY_ partitions. So just put the additional
partition(s) you need in some logical ones (see below).

 > 2. os2 bootmanager (partition 2)
 > 3. os2 root drive (partition 3, logical)

Create an additional extended partition. Then the logical ones. Ready to go..
(you may - if there is - also use the empty space on the extended partition on
which "os2 root drive" resides). Got it?

Lots of stuff deleted:

I've had some success with bootmanager:  I also have four
primary partitions, with DOS and Linux and os2.  Slackware
on the TransAmeritech CDROM (copied to a DOS hard drive as
intermediary) worked smoothly enough, better than bsd.
Partitions look like this:
1. Dos (primary)
2. Bootmanager (primary)
3. Linux (primary)
4. OS/2 extended (4a=FAT-16; 4b=HPFS)
[4b above is the fourth "primary" with the secondary boot
record for OS/2, and 4a is visible to both DOS and OS/2]
The only hangup was getting Linux to install a secondary
boot record on root so that boot manager could see it: BE
SURE TO HAVE BOOTMANAGER SET UP THE LINUX PARTITION FIRST,
FORMAT IT WITH DOS OR OS/2 AND THEN INSTALL LINUX.
If you have questions, please email.

1. DOS, OS2, os2 bootmanager, linux native and linux swap in one drive

Hi *,

I was about to get my hand on Linux.  I obtained Slackware 1.2.0
from Sunsite. Made boot and root disks.  Then use fdisk
to create linux native and swap.  However, after creating
linux native, I'm not allowed to create linux swap.  At the
moment, I recalled the limitation of 4 partitions on a hard disk.
Is this still true to Linux??

Now, I have

1. DOS (partition 1, primary)
2. os2 bootmanager (partition 2)
3. os2 root drive (partition 3, logical)

Is there a way that I can create linux native and linux swap on
the same drive?  Thanks!!
