Urgent help needed!
Installed is an IDE drive from which the system boots, Linux 1.1.0. ISA bus and an
Adaptec 1542B SCSI controller. The only device* off the controller is an
Exabyte tape unit.
When booting, Linux reports that it found the controller, announces that it found
'1 hosts' (sic!) and then locks up completely. Cables, terminators, etc. are all in
place.
Can anyone using a 1542B successfully tell me what DMA channels, IRQ, BIOS
Enable setting, IRQ base address, etc they're using? If you can see a reason why
the system might be locking, please tell me. We're using IRQ-11, DMA 6, 0x0330
base address, BIOS disabled, auto-sense off. The last two have been tried in all
combinations - same effect.
