Mitsumi 4x cdrom drive

Mitsumi 4x cdrom drive

I have a Mitsumi 4x CDROM drive in my new computer, but it does not work
under linux.  What is the single easiest way to get it to work, and is
there any way to get it to work without linux installed on a hard drive
(during the installation, right after booting the rootdisk)?  I would
appreciate any help you can give me.  Please respond via email, do not
post.

Thanks,

Seth

Go read comp.os.linux.announce. I've just release a new set of Linux
1.1.88 kernel Boot and Root disk with full support for ATAPI IDE
CD-ROM drive such as the Mitsumi FX400 QuadSpeed CD-ROM.

1. Problems with DCL 2278 EIDE and Mitsumi 4x cdrom drive

I have a DCL 2278 EIDE controller card, and connected to that are two hard
drives, and a Mitsumi 4x cdrom drive.  When I boot to Linux from having the
computer off, Linux doesn't recognize my Mitsumi drive.  When I boot to dos,
then reboot to Linux, the drive is recognized.  Any hints on how to get this
working right?  If this question is in the FAQ, I am sorry.  I haven't been
able to find much help anywhere.  I am running 2.0.0, I have compiled support
for the DCL 2278 into the Kernel.
        Thanks in advance
