i recently got my linux boxes networked. ftp, telnet, X remote apps
work ok.
 however, /var/adm/syslog grows with the following msgs:

Nov 11 17:54:20 milieu login: ROOT LOGIN ON tty1
Nov 11 17:54:27 milieu bootpd[38]: bootpd 2.1 #11: Fri May  7 17:55:50  1993 ^Iro

Nov 11 17:54:27 milieu bootpd[38]: reading "/etc/bootptab"
Nov 11 17:54:27 milieu bootpd[38]: read 2 entries from "/etc/bootptab"
Nov 11 17:54:27 milieu bootpd[38]: hardware address not found: 0000A38011E2

 what causes this?

No ideas, but if you comment out the line enabling in.bootpd in the
/etc/inetd.conf file, this problem go away.
Anyone is trying to have diskless workstations running Linux? :-)

1. bootpd : Ip address not found

I just noticed that in my /var/adm/messages log I have
many records that look like :

bootpd[3925]: IP address not found: xxx.xxx.15.123
bootpd[3925]: IP address not found: xxx.xxx.16.181
bootpd[3925]: IP address not found: xxx.xxx.13.97

with all differnet IP addresses of different people in
my organization.  What is going on here?
