USB Under RH9 (2.4.20-8) locks hard

USB Under RH9 (2.4.20-8) locks hard

Post by Ronn » Tue, 24 Jun 2003 21:57:31

Hi, I've been having problems with RH9.  It locks hard everytime I
boot.  I narrowed it down to it being the USB that is causing it to
lock up.  Now I can get it to boot by disabling the USB controller
through the BIOS.  I have no idea why, it worked with Redhat 8 with no
problems.

By the way, its an ASUS A7N266 motherboard.  Any thoughts??

1. SCSI under 2.4.20-8 but not 2.4.20-18.9 (RH9)

Hello

I cannot mount my SCSI disk under 2.4.20-18.9.

in my /var/log/messages I can find the following, showing that the
attachment failed somehow.

Jun 20 15:37:53 hagi1741 kernel: scsi0 : NinjaSCSI-32Bi/UDE: irq 5, io
0x2000+0x80
Jun 20 15:37:53 hagi1741 kernel: Attached scsi disk sda at scsi0,
channel 0, id 1, lun 0
Jun 20 15:37:53 hagi1741 kernel: scsi: device set offline - not ready
or command retry failed after bus reset: host 0 channel 0 id 1 lun 0

This however did not happen before I upgraded the kernel (from
2.4.20-8). I 2.4.20-8 I could however not have both SCSI and USB
harddisks connected at boottime. I could only connect the USB after
booting and then mount it.

Does anybody know how to solve any of these problems?

My SCSI is a MELCO (Buffalo) DSC-G connected through MELCO IFC-USLP
adaptor connected to PCI.

Thanks
Torben
