Linux AX.25 driver

Linux AX.25 driver

Post by Ian Cha » Wed, 02 Mar 1994 22:42:29

Hi,

I was looking through the Linux pl15 source last night, and found references
in drivers/net/CONFIG (and various other places) to "ax25.h", CONFIG_AX25 and
various other things.

Where would I find this driver?  I've looked in all the normal places one finds
Linux stuff and drew a blank.

Thanks,

Ian.

Newest release is AX25012 as of yesterday....  works great!  obviously, with
a KISS TNC you can do TCP/IP as well as connected mode AX.25.  Digi support
is not great yet, and NetROM is not there yet.

The maintainer is GW4PTS, Alan Cox.

This is a packet format used in amateur "packet radio" - is basically X.25 but

amateur as am I, but is into packet and runs a linux system.

Sorry I can't help you.

Linux AX.25 driver

I installed the ax25 patch and compiled a pl15 kernel for my
machine.  I tried both the pl15 kernel available on funet.fi
and the pl15h I found here at school.  When I boot and try
to do an axattach, I get an error that looks something like:

SIOC(something,something): Invalid argument.

It's the same kind of error I get when it can't find the
ethernet card.  I haven't installed the driver for my
ethernet card yet so I don't know if that will fix it.

Does anyone know what kernels the ax25 patch works on, and/or
what I'm doing wrong on this compilation?

TIA,

No no no! - this is a common myth. AX.25 is misnamed, its basically a
multichannel LAPB protocol with broadcasts - and no upper (ie X.25 layer)
