Newbie question: problem w/ scripts

Newbie question: problem w/ scripts

Post by Tsai-Chu T.C. Che » Sun, 17 Jul 1994 19:34:57

I installed Linux successfully (knock on wood) and all runs fine until
I try to run scripts; none of them can find the files. e.g.:

foo_bar_script:  can't find usr/local/bin/foo_bar_file

It seems that foo_bar_scrpit should be looking for
"/usr/local/bin/foo_bar_file", but it's missing that first slash.

Help?

Clueless newbie Linux user,

1. 2 newbie questions (Corel/KDM/Shell Scripts)

I have just installed Corel Linux and...

1) The desktop environment (KDM? KDE?) is not very stable and
it just freezes up. What can I do to make this better? Are there
better desktops?

2) This seems so simple, I feel dumb asking... I am trying to
run a script (a configure script for an install) and I type in

./configure

And it tells me the command is not found. I also tried the full
path and just "configure". No luck. What do I need to setup?

Thanks
