Tandy CDR-1000: Linux or no?

Post by jmk8.. » Tue, 10 May 1994 08:41:51

Before I waste any more time here, I want a question
answered: Will a Tandy CDR-1000 work with Linux?
If so, how?
If not, goodbye linux...

I have tried both the included Mitsumi driver,
and the lmsi/Phillips driver patch from sunsite.
The drive is on address 0x300 (I'm POSITIVE of this),
IRQ5, DMA1.

There is a driver that works somewhere, but I don't know
if I have it, or who has it.
Whoever was trying to sell his Tandy CDR-1000 in m.f.c.pc-clone
with a Linux driver must know something I dont, but I lost the
message, so I don't know who he is.

1. Linux on a Tandy CDR-1000 CD-ROM drive?

I was just given a Tandy CDR-1000 CD-ROM drive, with it's own
interface card (I don't know if this means it is a SCSI device or not-
maybe someone can tell me).  Is there any package that can run Linux
with this drive?  The docs tell me there are only Mitsushi, Adatec, and a few
other CD-ROM drivers.  And if I can't run Linux from the CD, can I install Linux
on my hard drive using this drive?

Thank you for any help you can provide.
