Making LILO boot MS-DOS by default

Making LILO boot MS-DOS by default

Post by u.. » Mon, 21 Nov 1994 05:19:23

Hello

I was wondering how I could setup LILO so that it boots up dos when no key is
pressed at LILO.
The only way I can get into dos is, of course, holding the shift key (also alt
and others) until I get a prompt. Then I type dos and dos boots.

If I don't hit any key, then, of course, Linux boots. Is there any way I could
set up the /etc/lilo.config file to make the default boot to be dos?
I would appreciate it if someone shows me how to make dos the default boot
system in LILO.

Thanks,

Ujj

In your lilo.conf file, switch the order of your dos and linux
partition info.  That is, put the dos stuff above the linux stuff.

1. edit /etc/lilo.conf so that the "dos" stanza comes before the "linux"
   stanza...

2. run lilo to write the new configuration to your boot sector

3. You need to configure your system!!
set $ORGANIZATION correctly, and set your host and domain name
to something more convincing than "myhost" and "subdomain.domain"
