"sunsite" is a bit overloaded latley so browsing is very hard
if not impossible.

Can someone please tell me where I can get a POP client so I can
retreive mail from my remote mail server

Pine 3.91 will read a POP3 mailbox without a problem, out of the box.
If you've got 3.91 (not 3.89) installed, you can add a line like the
following to your .pinerc, and it'll work.

incoming-folders=POP3 {pop.some.where.edu/POP3}inbox
                  ^          ^             ^     ^
    pine nickname-'          |             |     |
                   hostname -'             |     |
          tells pine what protocol to use -'     |
                                standard in-box -'
