What are SLIP, PPP and where to get the programs

Post by Yang Yu-shua » Fri, 02 Dec 1994 11:23:21

Dear Net Friends,

I access to an unix machine using a comm program under MS-W 3.1 which allow
me to open only one terminal window. By reading the news articles, it seems
to me that I can run SLIP or PPP under linux to have more than one comm
windows open. However, I don't see an article describing the SLIP or PPP.
Can some one please tell me where I can find some information about SLIP
and PPP.

As I can connect to our unix machine via a modem, how can I get the programs
for the unix machine so that I can use SLIP, etc.?

Any relevant information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help

YS Yang

Start with the document
ftp://ftp.netcom.com/pub/lo/longyear/linux/Linux.PPP.FAQ. It will
point you to others and the code.
