Hey, all, I've been trying to set up X on my new system, and I'm
having lots of problems with ConfigXF86. I've followed this group
for about a week (lots o' work), and read the FAQs and readmes, so
here goes:
I have a Cirrus 5424 chipset, a CTX CVP-5468A, both of which are
listed in Config's options, and select without problems. But when
I go to tune, I receieve the messages:
error: syntax error
error: syntax error
error: non-numeric argument
after any test (which never work), and nearly any other operation
on that screen. The file Config generates doesn't work at all, either.
Running X with the files it generates does this:
(--) SVGA: Mode "800x600" needs hsync freq of 48.83 kHz. Deleted.
(--) SVGA: Mode "1024x768i" needs hsync freq of 39.56 kHz. Deleted.
(--) SVGA: Mode "640x480" needs hsync freq of 60.10 kHz. Deleted.
and then, after some other parsing, this:
(--) SVGA: There is no mode definition named "800x600"
(--) SVGA: Removing mode "800x600" from list of valid modes.
(--) SVGA: There is no mode definition named "1024x768i"
(--) SVGA: Removing mode "1024x768i" from list of valid modes.
(--) SVGA: There is no mode definition named "640x480"
I am, obviously, a bit confused. Has anyone else encountered a
problem like this? How did you solve it?
And, if there's anyone out there with valid config files for my equipment,
could you please post them to me (I know how to tinker with them, but I
need a starting point).
I appreciate all answers, either to me or the group. Thanks-
