Where are Slackware kernel recompile tools?

Where are Slackware kernel recompile tools?

Post by Douglas J. Seyl » Mon, 03 Oct 1994 02:37:50

I've downloaded and installed the Slackware 2.0.0 release. I have a problem,
however, with my mouse needs to be on IRQ 3 instead of IRQ 5 (which is, I
believe, what is compiled into the kernel). The Mouse FAQ tells how to do the
recompile, but I don't seem to have MAKE among the files that I installed (I
installed the A and AP disk sets). Can someone point me to the appropriate
tools and the 1.0.9 source code?

Thanks--

You need to install the D (for development) series, which also includes
the
1.0.9 source.

1. programmer's tools needed for kernel recompile

Oops.  I want to recompile my kernel, but I didn't install most of the
programming tools when I set up the system (I'm *not* a developer, *am*
very new at all this, and didn't think I'd need them).  Can anyone tell
me exactly what tools I need to accomplish this and how I can get them?
I'm using RH 6.0, and have looked at the documentation and 3 or 4 books,
but nothing seems to address this issue specifically.

Thanks,

Lori
