Apache compile problems

Post by Joshua Boy » Fri, 21 Nov 1997 04:00:00

I am sorry to cross post this, but I don't know which is more
appropriate, since I don't really understand the problem.

I am trying to compile apache on my linux box.  I have version 1.2.1.  I
am using slackware, with the linux 2.0.15 kernal.  I am using the
default configuration file, and when I type make, this is what I get.

gcc -c   -O2 -DLINUX=2 -DSTATUS   buff.c
In file included from buff.c:66:
/usr/include/sys/uio.h:33: redefinition of `struct iovec'
make: *** [buff.o] Error 1
linux:/usr/apache/apache_1.2.1/src#

Should I just download a newer version of apache?  I have a slow
internet connection, so I would prefer not to.

Please CC replys to my email address.  And thanks in advance for your
help.

I would just download a new one.  It's up to 1.2.4.   You may want check
what version your gcc is first  though. It should be around 2.7.

We've sent a man to the moon, and that's 29,000 miles away.  The center
of the Earth is only 4,000 miles away.  You could drive that in a week,
but for some reason nobody's ever done it.

1. Apache compile problem under HPUX 10.20

We recently upgraded from HP-UX 10.01 to 10.20.  Now I'm unable to
recompile apache 1.2.4.  It compiled without error under 10.01.

# uname -a
HP-UX www B.10.20 E 9000/888 2140999012 8-user license
# gcc -v
gcc version 2.7.2
# make
        gcc -c   -O2 -DHPUX10 -DSTATUS   alloc.c
In file included from /usr/include/sys/stat.h:25,
                 from conf.h:567,
                 from httpd.h:59,
                 from alloc.c:61:
/usr/include/sys/_stat_body.h:22: parse error before `blkcnt_t'
/usr/include/sys/_stat_body.h:22: warning: no semicolon at end of struct or union
/usr/include/sys/_stat_body.h:23: parse error before `:'
/usr/include/sys/_stat_body.h:24: parse error before `:'
/usr/include/sys/_stat_body.h:25: parse error before `:'
/usr/include/sys/_stat_body.h:53: parse error before `}'
In file included from alloc.c:61:
httpd.h:516: field `finfo' has incomplete type
*** Error exit code 1

Stop.

Any suggestions ?  I searched dejanews but didn't see anything matching
this error.  Thanks very much...
