-----------------------------------------
   Kernel Panic: EXT2-fs panic ... :/)
-----------------------------------------

After a crash during shutdown of my Linux-Slackware Distribution
(Kernel 1.0.9) there is a problem to boot the system!

After LILO the Kernel is uncompressed ... the Partition check is OK!
hda: hda1 hda2 < Hda5 hda6 hda7 hda8 >
(remark: /dev/hda6 is the root-filesystem)

... Now the following message occurs:

Kernel panic: EXT2-fs panic (device 3/6): ext2_read_inode:
unable to read i-node block
inode=2 , bloxk=167774777

--- PC configuration --- 486DX40/8MB/540MB -------------------------

Disk /dev/hda: 16 heads, 63 sectors, 1048 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 bytes

   Device Boot  Begin   Start     End  Blocks   Id  System
/dev/hda1   *       1       1     244  122944+   6  DOS 16-bit >=32M
/dev/hda2         245     245    1024  393120    5  Extended
/dev/hda5         245     245     407   82120+   6  DOS 16-bit >=32M
/dev/hda6         408     408     774  184967+  83  Linux native
/dev/hda7         775     775     831   28727+  82  Linux swap
/dev/hda8         832     832    1024   97271+  83  Linux native
--------------------------------------------------------------------

- User Partition /dev/hda8 is OK;
- everything seems to be OK by using |badblocks| on /dev/hda6
- |e2fsck| on /dev/hda6 exit with an error code 8 (Operational Error)
  and the following message occurs:
  Block bitmap 0 for group 0 not in group (remark: ??????)

Can somebody help me ???
I'm looking forward to any possible solution or answer :<)

thanks dirk

1. What is Kernel Panic: EXT2-fs panic (Device 3/65)

Help.  I tried to install Slackware 2.1 and just as setup tries to
create a boot disk for me, it gives me the following error

Kernel Panic: EXT2-fs panic (device 3/65): ext2_read_inode:
unable to read inode block - inode=12, block=6

Can someone explain this to me?

Where can I find a trouble shooting guide that explains these error
messages?
