RH4.2 xdm and AX4.1: tiny red `Red Hat Linux' font

RH4.2 xdm and AX4.1: tiny red `Red Hat Linux' font

Post by Jeffrey Mark Siskin » Sat, 28 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I installed Red Hat 4.2 and then installed Accelerated X 4.1. After installing
AX4.1 the xdm no longer gave the cute penguin display. And I no longer got the
same default window manager configuration with either startx or xdm. So I
replaced the following files from the original Red Hat 4.2 distribution:

Now I got back the original default window manager configuration with both
startx and xdm. And I got back the cute penguin display under xdm. But one
thing remains. The red `Red Hat Linux' title font in the xdm display used to
be large and now it is tiny. How do I fix that?

1. Red Hat 7.1 - Installing Red Hat packages after Red Hat is already installed.

How can I install packages that I forgot to install with the Red Hat
7.1 installation?

Here's my problem:
Various pieces of Red Hat keep saying that I am missing a file and
that it needs to be installed with a certain package (namely most of
the Kontrol Panel).  But I have been unsuccessful at finding where
this is done.  I am still a newbie with Linux, but I would assume that
there should be an "Add/Remove Programs" equivalent with Linux.

Please help!
