When I start up xdm (runlevel 4 in /etc/inittab) I am getting the
following kernel messages continuously in syslog:
Dec 29 02:12:42 xxxx kernel: Warning: dev (04:c1) tty->count(2) != #fd's(3) in release_dev
Dec 29 02:12:42 xxxx kernel: Warning: dev (04:c1) tty->count(2) != #fd's(3) in tty_open
If I start X from runlevel 5 without xdm I get an error "can't find free VT"
If I start X as "X vt6" it starts fine.
I am running the basic Slackware 3.0 distribution.
What is the problem here? Any help is appreciated.
