Help: xpaint problem by start

Help: xpaint problem by start

After compiling Xpaint 2.1.1 from sunsite on Debian 0.93.5 with gcc 2.6.3
and X11R5 or X11R6 a.out libs I keep getting by start the following:

X Error of failed request:  BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
  Major opcode of failed request:  14 (X_GetGeometry)
  Resource id in failed request:  0x0
  Serial number of failed request:  528
  Current serial number in output stream:  528

I am using the fvwm 1.24r window manager. Any pointers appreciated...

1. XPAINT Would not start ???

I am running solaris 2.5 on a Pentium.
I just installed Xpaint.
I tried to run it but I keep having the same error message that I don't understand

Any help appreciated.

p.s: following is the error message that I got
